“Protest” is a video project by Susanne and Urs Hofer. The aim is to collect as many private protest campaigns from as many people as possible. They can be large or small scale, subtle or loud. The protest descriptions will serve as concepts to be used in a video work by the artists.
Contributions will be selected and documented; willing participants will be contacted. It is also possible to send in anonymous contributions without forwarding your mail address.
The resulting documentary movie should focus more on the individual protest and not on general social trends.
For the elicitation of responses we set a website online in 2003. Additionally, people are questioned about their protest behaviour, flyers and postcards are handed out. Furthermore, a collaboration in a scientific way with the University of Zurich is considered.
The website simulates a virtual demonstration, in which the position of the single figures are calculated from scratch each time the page is visited. The amount of figures and their position changes coincidentally.
